Thermally induced phase transforming cellular lattice driven by bimetal beams

چکیده

Abstract Phase Transforming Cellular Material (PXCM) exhibits transformation by loading and maintains the deformed shape even after unloading compression restores original deforming in opposite direction. Conventional PXCM needs to be stressed reversely restore its shape. Bimetals, i.e., clad sheets of metals with large differences coefficient thermal expansion, can spontaneously bend response temperature changes because stress. In this study, we designed a lattice structure that not only deforms when compressive/tensile load is applied but also heating/cooling using bimetal for curved beam PXCM. A newly created named thermally induced The TI-PXCM exhibited recovery strain 20% or more hysteresis 302 K range − 190 200 °C. Graphical abstract

Axial and Torsional Free Vibrations of Elastic Nano-Beams by Stress-Driven Two-Phase Elasticity

Size-dependent longitudinal and torsional vibrations of nano-beams are examined by two-phase mixture integral elasticity. A new and efficient elastodynamic model is conceived by convexly combining the local phase with strain- and stress-driven purely nonlocal phases. The proposed stress-driven nonlocal integral mixture leads to well-posed structural problems for any value of the scale parameter...

Fabrication of Gelatin Scaffolds Using Thermally Induced Phase Separation Technique

Gelatin is considered as a partially degraded product of collagen and it is a biodegradable polymer which can be used to produce scaffolds for tissue engineering. Three-dimensional, porous gelatin scaffolds were fabricated by thermally induced phase separation and freeze-drying method. Their porous structure and pore size were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. Scaffolds with differ...

Nuclear spin-lattice relaxation induced by thermally fluctuating flux lines.

Thermal motion of the flux lines (FL) gives rise to fluctuating magnetic fields. These dynamic fields couple to the nuclei in the sample and relax the nuclear spins. Based on a model of harmonic fluctuations, we provide a theoretical description of the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation (NSLR) process due to the fluctuating FLs in clean type-II superconductors. At low fields, the calculated longit...

On beams made of a phase-transforming material

This paper presents a theory for the mechanics of beams made of single crystals of shape memory alloys. The behavior of such beams can be quite unexpected and complicated due to the presence and propagation of phase boundaries. It is shown that the usual laws of mechanics do not fully determine the propagation of phase boundaries and that there is a need for additional constitutive information ...

Tunable twin Airy beams induced by binary phase patterns.

In this work, we theoretically and experimentally study the physical process of Airy beams induced by binary phase patterns combined with a slope factor. Theoretical simulations show that the binary phase patterns generate a pair of symmetrically inverted twin Airy beams. The slope factor can regulate the spacing between the two Airy beam peaks, decrease the error induced by the binarization pr...
